6. For the Kingdom of Heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his servants, and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them and so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: Behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: Thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: Enter thou into the joy of the Lord. He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: Behold, I have gained two other talents besides them. His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant, Thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: Enter thou into the joy of the Lord. Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord I knew thee that thou art a hard man,reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: and I was afraid and went and hid thy talent in the earth: Lo, there thou has that is thine. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knowest that I reap where I sowed not and gathered where I have not strawed: Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. Take therefore the talent from him and give it unto him which hath ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given and he shall have abundance: but for him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew, 25: 14-30). 

6. Le Seigneur agit comme un homme qui, devant faire un long voyage hors de son pays, appela ses serviteurs et leur mit son bien entre les mains. - Et ayant donné cinq talents à l'un, deux à l'autre, un à l'autre, selon la capacité différente de chacun, il partit aussitôt. - Celui donc qui avait reçu cinq talents, s'en alla ; il trafiqua avec cet argent, et il en gagna cinq autres. - Celui qui en avait reçu deux, en gagna de même encore deux autres. Mais celui qui n'en avait reçu qu'un, alla creuser dans la terre et y cacha l'argent de son maître. - Longtemps après, le maître de ces serviteurs étant revenu, leur fit rendre compte. - Et celui qui avait reçu cinq talents vint lui en présenter cinq autres, en lui disant : Seigneur, vous m'aviez mis cinq talents entre les mains ; en voici, outre ceux-là, cinq autres que j'ai gagnés. - Son maître lui répondit : O bon et fidèle serviteur, parce que vous avez été fidèle en peu de chose, je vous établirai sur beaucoup d'autres ; entrez dans la joie de votre Seigneur. - Celui qui avait reçu deux talents vint aussitôt se présenter à lui et lui dit : Seigneur, vous m'aviez mis deux talents entre les mains ; en voici, outre ceux-là, deux autres que j'ai gagnés. - Son maître lui répondit : O bon et fidèle serviteur, parce que vous avez été fidèle en peu de chose, je vous établirai sur beaucoup d'autres ; entrez dans la joie de votre Seigneur. - Celui qui n'avait reçu qu'un talent vint ensuite, et lui dit : Seigneur, je sais que vous êtes un homme dur, que vous moissonnez où vous n'avez pas semé, et que vous recueillez où vous n'avez rien mis ; - c'est pourquoi, comme je vous appréhendais, j'ai été cacher votre talent dans la terre ; le voici, je vous rends ce qui est à vous. - Mais son maître lui répondit : Serviteur méchant et paresseux, vous saviez que je moissonne où je n'ai point semé, et que je recueille où je n'ai rien mis, - vous deviez donc mettre mon argent entre les mains des banquiers, afin qu'à mon retour je retirasse avec usure ce qui est à moi. - Qu'on lui ôte donc le talent qu'il a, et qu'on le donne à celui qui a dix talents ; - car on donnera à tous ceux qui ont déjà, et ils seront comblés de biens ; mais pour celui qui n'a point, on lui ôtera même ce qu'il semble avoir ; et qu'on jette ce serviteur inutile dans les ténèbres extérieures ; c'est là qu'il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.
