From now on we will regularly publish the report of the Society’s sessions. We intended to do it starting from this current issue but the excess of material forces us to postpone it to the next issue.

The members residing outside Paris and the corresponding members will then be able to follow the works of the Society. As for now we restrain ourselves by saying that despite Mr. Allan Kardec’s intention to resign to the Presidency, expressed in his closing speech on the occasion of the administrative renewal, he was unanimously reelected, minus one vote and a blank ticket.

He considered it to be an inconvenience to pursue his resignation, before such a flattering testimony. He has however accepted it conditionally, with the reservation that he will resign from his functions as soon as the Society has the condition to offer the presidency to someone whose name and social position are such that it will elevate the Society to a higher level. His wish was to dedicate all his time to the works and studies that he is currently carrying out.

DE LA SOCIÉTÉ PARISIENNE DES ÉTUDES SPIRITES.

Nous publierons à l'avenir le compte rendu régulier des séances de la Société. Nous comptions le faire à partir de ce numéro; mais l'abondance des matières nous oblige à l'ajourner à la prochaine livraison. Les Sociétaires qui ne résident pas à Paris et les membres correspondants pourront ainsi suivre les travaux de la Société. Nous nous bornerons à dire aujourd'hui que, malgré l'intention que M. Allan Kardec avait exprimée dans son discours de clôture de renoncer à la présidence, lors du renouvellement du bureau, il a été réélu à l'unanimité, moins une voix et un bulletin blanc. Il aurait cru mal répondre à un témoignage aussi flatteur en persistant dans son refus. Il n'a accepté toutefois que conditionnellement et sous la réserve expresse de résigner ses fonctions du moment que la Société se trouverait à même d'offrir la présidence à une personne dont le nom et la position sociale seraient de nature à lui donner un plus grand relief; son désir étant de pouvoir consacrer tout son temps aux travaux et aux études qu'il poursuit.
